Dec 19th
We're bracing for a big snow storm starting today and going until tomorrow. They were predicting 12-18 inches for us but....

The latest update from the National Weather Service forecast total snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches on Long Island.

PJ already left for work this afternoon and probably won't be home until Monday night!
Scott and his friend scored FREE Rhianna tickets for a concert tonight in NYC. off the went like little giddy boys! They LOVE her!!!
So tomorrow will be quite something when we wake up in the morning. I can't wait!

Today started out bad. I lost a $100 gift card that i bought for Brooke from Target. After looking for like 2 hours I said forget about this and went back to Target with my receipt. They ended up de-activating it and a new one will be sent in two weeks.
Later in the day I went to the church part of Laura G.'s wedding. It was nice seeing some of the girls that Brooke graduated with.
My camera was NOT behaving today! Everything is blurry!

I finished cooking for tomorrows holiday party at about 3:00 today. I finally sat down to relax. At about 3:30 PJ called to ask if I was busy and could I do one last favor for him. "I forgot that John was retireing tomorrow. Can you go out and get a sheet cake that will feed about 30 people"? WHAT in the world is he thinking!!! I could have easily gotten one from B.J.'s but our membership ran out. I didn't want to pay $40 extra to be able to get this stinking cake. I wend to 4 supermarkets (King Kullen, Waldbaums, Pathmark and Stop & Shop) all down Hempstead Typk. NOT even one sheet cake was out there. I ended up getting a smaller cake that will feed like 10-12 people and too bad!!!

I brought out some more Xmas decorations which included one of my favorites... a Dept 56 Gingerbread House. It's Mercury Glass I think they call it. Anyway, I dropped the box! I now have a nice chip in the corner of the roof! BUMMER! I have to keep telling myself... it's only an object!!!

I'll just turn it around so we don't see it!
I made a HUGE pot of Long Point Winery's Chicken Chili
( http://mamazukecooks.blogspot.com/)
for PJ's Holiday Party at work. I tripled the recipe. It wasn't easy finding 12 cans of white beans!!!

It looks like mush but tastes really good! It ended up making enough to fill 3- 1/2 trays (equal to 1 1/2 large trays).

Scott put the lights on the tree this afternoon and we decorated the tree at night.

Huck all tuckered out...

Dec 14th

I started making Christmas cookies the other day. I was storing them in a rubbermaid container. Look at the surprise I got when I opened up the container....

I guess they were good!!!

I spent a good part of the afternoon cooking. PJ's work holiday party is Friday and we're providing all of the food. One of the items that we're making is the Chicken Chili recipe that we had at long Point Winery last week. It was so good. We need a lot and it's a little time consuming so I thought I'd make part of it to get a jump on it. We used 12 pounds of chicken cutlets and sauteed them in S&P and Chili Powder. When they are cooked through and browned, you shred all of it. The sauteing took about an hour. The shredding took both PJ and I about another hour! After a while I brought the stool up to the counter! I also sauteed the onions... about 6 cups worth also in the S&P and chili powder. They tasted sooo good! I froze the chicken and onions. I'm glad that part is done!
We set up the tree to let the branches fall. Huck did a lot of sniffing and then started climbing! This could be bad!

Today we went to Hicks to get our Xmas tree. I couldn't believe the UGLY poinsettias they had. I'm a purest when it comes to plants and you don't mess with them. These things were so gaudy I couldn't believe it. AND people were buying them!
They had glittered ones...
And they had every color in the rainbow... that were also glittered!
Scott noticed this tag on a tree. We all got a laugh out of the name!
Our tree!

I'm NOT an animal lover but I just thought this was so cute. I put up our little tree in the dining room with our winery ornaments on it. Alyssa kept warning me that her cat would wreck it because that's what they do. Well, instead of wrecking it, he loves sitting under it just looking up at the lights... not touching a thing. I just thought that was cute.
