June 28th
A few weeks ago Alyssa told me about a book called A Child Called "It". She told me that it has effected her way of thinking about childrens words and actions. She highly recomended that I read the book and the 2 that follow, which she hasn't read yet. I ordered all 3 thinking that I have all summer to read them and if they are like every book I pick up... I will put it down within the first chapter never to be picked up again! I'm not a lover of reading. I can't concentrate if it doesn't grasp me right away and then I'm lost. Being that PJ is working today, I decided that this is the perfect day to START the book.

I sat outside and began the book. The only reason that I put it down was to go inside to make a sandwich for lunch only to bring it outside and get back to reading!

This book is so touching and you just want to help this poor boy out of his misery. I FINISHED the book!!! It was a quick read so most 'experienced readers' will finish it a lot quicker than I did. This is a book that anyone working with children should read! Not even them, everyone should read it not only for the inspiration but also to learn about abuse.

June 27th
What a wasteful day! Here's the story... PJ, Mary, Stan and Jimmy (from Chicago) wanted to bury their mothers ashes at the cemetery. Mary called the cemetery and inguired about doing that and they said that they need 24-48 hours notice. She told Jimmy that and they all decided that today (Saturday) would be the day to do that. Jimmy booked his flights at this point BEFORE Mary called to confirm. When Mary did that, they told her that they only do that service m-f, not on the weekends. Mary called Jimmy who then exploded "who is going to reimburse me for my flights"? You should have waited you dope!
Jimmy decided that he would still come out here for the weekend to see everyone being that the tickets were paid for. They buried the ashes yesterday (Friday) and all went well. Today was different! Jimmy called to say that he missed his flight. They would try to get him on the next flight which was an hour later. In the mean time, PJ was supposed to be off but ended up having to go into work for a few hours to check on things. He was going to pick Jimmy up at the airport. Jimmy called once again and said that he couldn't get on the next flight but there is one going to Newark. PJ said "I'm not going to Newark"! Jimmy said "I'll call you when I get there. We have to shut off our phones" and he hung up. PJ called Mary and told her. She also wouldn't go to Newark. She ended up texting him telling him to get on the path train etc and how to get to Massapequa. He gets to Jamaica and misses the train he should have connected to so now a little more of a wait. He finally got to Massapequa at 6:15... 7 HOURS later.
After PJ spoke with Jimmy, he was finished at work so he came home. He said "let's go for a drive". I'm game! We drove out east to Mattituck etc and took in the sights. We got some color driving with the roof down. AAAH SUN! It was nice to just talk and relax.

When we got home Scott and Alyssa told us that they were at Jones Beach and were EVACUATED!!! A storm was coming and it actually looked like a tornado.
We ended up going out to dinner with Mary and Jimmy to The Corner Galley. We HATE that place! This is the 3rd time we've gone there with Mary and we've always felt the same about it. She loves it! 3 of us got burgers and not to ever change his ways, Jimmy got the Duck. He always orders the most expensive thing on the menu.
After dinner we went back to mary's house to see Jimmy's picture of the house he just bought. We expected maybe like 2 pictures of each room etc. NOT!!! There must have been like 400 pictures all together. He had like 20 pictures of each room standing in different places... how many angles of a closet do you need to see??? We must have seen at least 20-30 pictures of his 3 trees in the front of the house! ENOUGH!
It was nice to say GOOD-BYE knowing it will be a long time before we have to see him again!

June 26th
WOAH!!! The sun is shinning... for the time being! I had to go outside and snap some shots on how the garden is coming along. I guess the flowers like the rain and cloudy days!

June 25th

Today was such a cloudy day until about 2:00. PJ was off today because he's working on Sunday. At about 2:30 we decided to go to the beach. The sun was shinning and it just felt so good! As we approached Field 6, we realized that we didn't have the pass and we also didn't have $ so we headed home. When we got home PJ came up with a great idea... "let's go take a nap in the yard"! I got my beach chair and he laid out on the patio couch cushion. The sun felt so nice. It's been way too long without it!

For dinner Imade a nice pork dish that's on my blog. Very FRESH tasting!

Happy Retirement Judy!
Today was the last day at school. It was pretty sad to say good-bye. CJ asked me if I could adopt him and if my kids would like him. Reese asked to come over to my house this summer because it sounds like we do fun things. They really touch your heart!
Softball is canceled tonight because of RAIN!

June 23rd
The kids loved the albums. CJ couldn't believe that his picture was in his. He was even more surprised that his picture was in EVERYONE'S! He thinks I'm magical!
We played volleyball tonight. It was pouring rand and we were drenched but we had a blast! We played the other Wantagh team so there were tons of laughs. Softball was canceled for tonight because of the DOWNPOURS!

June 22nd
I finished up the chipboard albums I made for the kids at school. I will give them to the kids tomorrow.

June 21st
Happy Father's Day!
PJ was working today. Alyssa, Scott and I went to Grandpas house with a Lemon meranguie pie that Alyssa made. Grandpa and Ann didn't hold back when they said it looks better than the one that I made for his birthday but that they hope it tastes better also because that one was HORRIBLE! So much for... if you don't have something nice to say... don't say anything!

June 20
Today was M's bridal shower. It was at Nicholas James in Merrick. It was great to get together with everyone again. We had a nice time, M was beautiful and got some really nice gifts. It was a very nice time.

We were going to head to the Mattituck Strawberry Festival after the shower. I won tix for 4 people for admission, rides and also a strawberry shortcake. We didn't go. It was probably shut down because of the weather... RAIN AGAIN!!!

June 19th

Today was the BBQ at school. I didn't get to go. Two other kids couldn't go because of their behavior so a different teacher took our 2 kids that could go. The teacher, aides and I had a boring time in the class with the other kids.

June 18th

Well today was the field trip to the bowling alley. WHAT A DAY! I was mortified to say the least but I won't write it here. I will say however, HOLY CRAP!!!!

June 15th

After work PJ and I took a ride to Pensey's. I LOVE their spices. Some of the mixtures are just great!

Today was spent in the house taking care of odds and ends. PJ got the smoker cooking in the yard with a whole beef tenderloin in it. He also stuck in some red potatoes which turned out DELISH!

June 13th
It has rained everyday for like a month! This is rediculas!
I worked a lot on those chipboard albums. Now I'm regretting that I ever started!

June 12th
OMG! I thought the town was under attack! The thunder and lightening this morning was unbelievable! I heard that Sunrise HWY in Massapequa was closed because there was a foot of water from one side to the other! The mall was closed for a while also.

June 11th
There's not much school left and everyone's ready for it to be DONE! CRANKY people!!!

June 10th
I've been working very hard (not hard just long hours) on my chipboard albums for the kids in the class.

June 9th

We had some wicked thunder and lightening today including TONS of rain! We still had volleyball though! June 8th
Rain, Rain GO AWAY!

June 7th

This is the first time in 32 years that PJ has been off the day after the Belmont Stakes. It was a day of rest for him.

June 6th
Today was the Belmont Stakes. This year I had the pleasure of Judy and Larry joining me! The day was filled with laughs, some phsycic moments... actually lots of them and a little bit of winnings. The crowd was kind of boring this year. We didn't sit next to people that you could chat with and hear their stories but we had enough of our own. All in all, we had a very nice long tireing day! PJ was exhausted!
The Gardening Crew with partially finishet Belmont Blanket
The blanket on it's way out!

Tonight was June's crop at St Willies. Judy, Margaret and I went. We got some scrapping done but the best part was catching up with eachothers lives and family's. It's a good thing!

June 4th

Today was a happy day. I FINALLY finished up with all the work on the tooth that I cracked on a bone. I needed root canal, surgery and a crown. I think I had 6 visits for this one tooth. It feels good to be DONE!

June 3rd
Today was another bad day at work but a teacher come over to me asking me my name and if I'm full time yet. She told me that she likes me very much. Hopefully something will become of it in the fall!

June 2nd

This rain is driving me nuts! It was coming down in buckets when I was dropping Chris off at the beach for a concert. I came home thinking that volleyball would be canceled. No such luck. We got in all of our games and even saw a beautiful rainbow! (the pic is obviously not Jones Beach!)

June 1st
There must be a full moon soon because the kids at school.... all of the kids, are in rare form!
May 31st

PJ was off today. We once again gardened, went food shopping, trimmed the hedge and then had a nice dinner. Nothing special to the day except we got a lot accomplished.
